Lance Reddick left behind a legacy of incredible work—some of which even he was in awe of.
The Surpassinglate actor, who died at age 60 on March 17 from natural causes, reflected on the upcoming film John Wick: Chapter 4 during his final interview with E! News. The movie, which sees Lance reprise his role of Charon, is one that he said raises the bar.
"I couldn't believe that it was bigger than the last one," Lance told E! News exclusively on March 3. "I don't know how you can have more action and better action, but we do. Also, the emotional stakes have been raised I feel for the characters more than any other franchise."
John Wick: Chapter 4 is set for release March 24. At the time, Lance speculated about fans' response to the film.
"I think some fans will be like, ‘Wow. I wanna do that again,''' he said. "Other fans will be like, ‘Okay, I need a martini. That was a lot.'"
But the high-stakes, fourth installment to the franchise isn't Lance's only work that is set to release after his passing. At the time of Lance's final E! News interview, Ian McShane, who plays Winston in the film series, noted that Ballerina, a John Wick spin-off featuring himself, Lance, Keanu Reeves and Ana de Armas, will be coming out.
Lance also stars in the remake of White Men Can't Jump, set for release in May, as well as Shirley, a biopic about Shirley Chisholm, the first Black woman elected to the United States Congress, which the actor filmed with Regina King.
Lance's untimely death was confirmed to E! News by his rep on March 17. Following news of his death, Keanu and John Wick director Chad Stahelski released a statement to E! News reflecting on his passing.
"We are deeply saddened and heartbroken at the loss of our beloved friend and colleague Lance Reddick," they wrote. "He was the consummate professional and a joy to work with."
The pair noted that John Wick: Chapter 4 is dedicated to his loving memory, adding, "We will miss him dearly."
