Don't expect to hear Sam Asghari speak ill of his ex, Britney Spears.
Asghari, 30, opened up about his divorce from the pop star in a new interview with People, telling the outlet it "was a blessing" to have shared his life with her "for a long time."
"People grow apart and people move on," he added.
Asghari filed for divorce from Spears, 42, in August 2023, citing irreconcilable differences. The two tied the knot in June 2022 after getting engaged in September 2021. They had dated since 2017 after Asghari worked with Spears on her "Slumber Party" music video.
But Asghari, an actor, told People he "never understood" when couples "talk badly about each other" after parting ways, so he doesn't plan to do so with Spears.
"That's something I'm never going to do because I had nothing but an amazing experience and a great life, and that's always going to be part of my life, a chapter of my life," he said.

For her part, Spears said at the time of their split that she was surprised by the end of her third marriage. She was previously married to Kevin Federline, with whom she shares two sons, Sean and Jayden, from 2004 to 2007 and to Jason Alexander, a childhood friend she married in Las Vegas, for 55 hours.
"6 years is a long time to be with someone so, I'm a little shocked but … I'm not here to explain why because its honestly nobody’s business!!!" she wrote on Instagram.

The "Toxic" singer added that she had "been playing it strong for way too long and my Instagram may seem perfect but it's far from reality and I think we all know that."
In a statement on Instagram after filing for divorce, Asghari wrote, "After six years of love and commitment to each other, my wife and I have decided to end our journey together. We will hold onto the love and respect we have for each other, and I wish her the best always."
